I filled out my registration for the Alumni Directory, and got a screen message saying that my pasword had been emailed to me, but I never got it.
Check to be sure that email from JHS Alumni is not being filtered out by your email program. This is one of the most common problems, because people forget that they have filtered all but a selected group of 'approved' domains or addresses. The program automatically sends the password immediately after somebody registers. Another reason for the failure to receive your password is that you might have entered your email address incorrectly.
My password won't work.
Be sure that you are entering it correctly and also that there are NO SPACES. If you accidently get an extra space -- either at the beginning or the end -- that will mess things up. It has to be entered with no spaces or the program will not recognize it.
I had an Alumni Page, but it seems to have disappeared.
When we changed over to the new Alumni Directory program, we deleted all of the Alumni Pages. Most of them were very outdated. You can create your new Directory Page and log in to keep it updated and current.
I'm having problems uploading a picture to my Directory Page.
Check to be sure that the file size is no larger than 200K and that the image format is a .jpg, .jpeg or .gif. You must also delete the picture you are using on your page before you can add another one. You can delete your picture by clicking "Update Your Directory Listing".
How do I change my Username?
You can't change your Username. (If you really have a problem with the one you have, email me and I will get you a new one.)
Can I use an animated image on my Directory Page?
Yes, you can use animations as long as the file size is not larger than 200K and the image format is .gif. You cannot upload anything that is .scr (no "screensavers" or "movies").
Why is there a place to choose my birthday month, but there is no place to choose the day or the year?
Everybody likes to be remembered on their birthday and it's a nice gesture to send an email birthday greeting to an old friend or classmate. It's not difficult to figure out someone's approximate age because of the Class Year and certainly everybody knows his/her own age, but we saw no reason to have to pick the year from a list and then to have to see it glaring at us in print at the top of our Directory Page. We decided to use "birth signs' instead. So........... if somebody's birthday is listed as "March" and their birth sign is shown as "Aires", then you know that their birthday is sometime between March 1 and March 21 and you can send them an email wishing them a Happy Birthday. Just forget about which year!
I don't know my 'Birth Sign", so how am I supposed to pick one?
You can refer to the chart below if you don't know your birth sign and you want it to display on your Directory Page. Also, you can click on the birth sign image to see the general personality traits of that sign if someone has theirs displayed. This is just kind of a fun thing that lots of people enjoy......... and it can be interesting!

I filled out everything and registerd and created a Directory Page, but now it's gone. What happened?
If your email bounced, your Directory Page was automatically deleted. We do it this way in order to keep the pages as current as possible. If you have a new email address now, you are welcome to create a new Directory Page with your updated information. Another reason your page might have disappeared is that you included photos or text that was not appropriate for the site. We monitor the uploads and do not allow "off color" photos or remarks. Just remember to log back in and keep your email address up to date --- and keep your information "family friendly" --- and your Directory Page will stay alive and well.
My wife and I both have the same email address, but we graduated in different years. Can we each create our own Directory Page?
Yes, you certainly can -- and we encourage it! People who search the Directory by Class Year might miss finding one of you otherwise. You must have a unique Username, but both of you can use the same email address and even the same password if that is more convenient for you. You may have the same email address and also have your own separate Directory Page, even if you were in the same class, as long as you have different Usernames.
This icon beside your name means that you have a photo or image displayed on your Directory Page. If you delete your photo, this icon will go away. If you add another photo, the icon will reappear.The blue date and time shown on the right column of the search pages indicates the date and time of the last update on your Directory Page.
Passwords: When you register, the program assigns you a password and emails it to you at the email address that you have entered on the registration form. It's a very good idea to change your password to something that you can easily remember -- or save the email in a file where you can refer to it so that you can access your Directory Page. If you forget your password, you can click the "Forgot Your Password?" link and the program will send it to you at the email address you have on file.
ALL CAPS: Please do not use all caps on your Directory Page unless it's just a few words here and there that you feel need special emphasis. All caps is very difficult to read and is considered "shouting" in the Internet world.
all lower case: Please do not use all lower case letters in the text on your Directory Page. Capitalizing the first word in sentences and names is correct and proper, so let's make our teachers proud!
Photos and / or text not appropriate for the site will result in the deletion of your Directory Page. If the photo or text content is clearly rude or lewd, it will be removed very quickly. If it is borderline, we will send you an email and ask you to take another stab at coming up with something that expresses what you want to show and tell --- and still stays within the range of good taste. You will have one day to accomplish this before your page is deleted.
Enlarge Directory Pages -- Here's a little keyboard trick to use if you want to "enlarge" somebody's Directory Page. Well, it doesn't actually make it larger -- it just lets you see more of it at once. For instance, if the photo at the top is large and then there is text under the photo and you'd like to be able to see the whole thing (or most of it) without having to scroll down, hit F11 on your keypad. It will 'stretch' your screen so that you can get a better visual. Then, you just hit F11 again to put the screen back the way it was. This works on only on Internet Explorer.
